CCAR-F Exam Format

Exam Structure

The exam presents 4 scenarios drawn at random from a bank of 6. Each scenario is a realistic production context that frames a block of questions. The six scenarios are: Customer Support Resolution Agent; Code Generation with Claude Code; Multi-Agent Research System; Developer Productivity with Claude; Claude Code for Continuous Integration; Structured Data Extraction. Because the 4 scenarios are drawn per exam form, the exact per-domain question counts vary slightly from sitting to sitting.

Question Format

All 60 questions are scenario-based. They are a mix of multiple-choice and multiple-response items — each item states how many responses to select. Questions are drawn from real-world situations you might encounter when designing and deploying Claude-powered systems.

Scoring

The CCAR-F is a criterion-referenced exam: you pass by meeting a fixed performance standard, not by outperforming other candidates. Results are reported as a scaled score from 100 to 1,000, with 720 required to pass. Anthropic does not publish a raw-percentage conversion — scaled scoring equates scores across exam forms of slightly different difficulty. Your score report shows your pass/fail result, your scaled score, and the percentage of items answered correctly in each domain.

Delivery & Registration

The exam is proctored and delivered through Pearson VUE — either online with remote proctoring or in person at a Pearson VUE test center. Registration runs through the Anthropic Partner Academy: review the exam details there, register and pay, then create a Pearson VUE account to schedule your session. On exam day you must present valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID that exactly matches the name on your registration (name corrections: certifications-support@anthropic.com), and you must accept a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement before the exam begins. If you need accommodations, request and get them approved through Pearson VUE before scheduling.

Fees, Validity & Retakes

The exam costs $125 USD per attempt; any partner-tier discount your organization qualifies for is reflected at checkout. A passing score is valid for 12 months; before it expires you can take a free, non-proctored renewal assessment on the Partner Academy to extend it. A lapsed certification requires a full retake at the full fee. If you don't pass, you must wait 14 days after a first attempt, 30 days after a second, or 90 days after a third before retrying, up to a maximum of 4 attempts in any rolling 12-month period, with the fee due each time. You can reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before your appointment; changes made within 24 hours (or a no-show) forfeit the exam fee. Decisions can be appealed within 14 days through Pearson VUE support.

Is CCAR-F the Same as CCA-F?

CCAR-F is the official exam code (Exam Guide v1.0). CCA-F is a community abbreviation you'll see in forums and study groups — it was never an official code. Both refer to the same Claude Certified Architect – Foundations exam.
